EPT Copenhagen Loses Players
 Feb 17 2011

A big fall in the number of registrants to this years EPT in Copenhagen, Denmark. Is the financial crisis giving people trouble putting up money for the buy-in? Or maybe the live tounament competition is the cause?

It might actually all be true, and this year the buy-in has been lowered from the initial DKK 50.000 to 37.250. But at the time this article was written there was sold only 346 seats.

Erik Jensen, Marketing Manager at Casino Copenhagen, still believes the field will get up to around 400 players. The reason is most likely the general slowdown in the global economy. I can also understand other EPT tournaments has had lower numbers of registrants. If we reach a field around 400 players, i will be fully satisfied' said Erik jensen to Danish Ekstra Bladet.

Another fair explanation is also the huge range of European tournaments. World Poker Tour has increased their presence in Europe, also Poker Stars has started with their new Eureka Poker Tour, and there is a number of smaller tours flourishing around us.
